I have been teaching yoga 1-2-1 and to small groups of friends / family for a number of years. Private classes are tailored to specific needs & allow personal attention. I teach Freestyle (a mix of different styles of yoga), Kundalini, Yin and Meditation. I use a space in Codicote to teach privately or I am very happy to travel to your home if it is local to me (within 5 miles). Why not start the day with an early morning yoga & meditation practice? Or unwind in the evening? A one-off 60 minute booking starts at £35 – a regular 60 minute booking is £30. Contact me on 07746679905 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to book.
I also offer specialised 1-2-1 sessions for the Mind & for Better Movement.
Yoga for the Mind
According to statistics, 1 in 4 people will experience some form of mental health problem over the course of a year. Nearly half of adults say they feel stressed every day or every few days. More and more people are turning to alcohol and drugs to help them cope with stress. Self-harming is on the increase amongst young people. Depression is a common problem among older problems. A rising number of employees are reporting mental health issues.
Yoga has been shown to be an effective tool in developing good mental health:
- The postures (asanas) release stress and tension from the body, balance the glandular system and move focus away from the mind.
- Breath control (pranayama) affects state of mind, leading to a calmer more positive outlook, and developing lifelong skills for maintaining mental health.
- Meditation teaches mindfulness and awareness so you can take back control of your state of mind and understand the issues and processes leading to imbalances in your mental health.
- Yoga strengthens the relaxation response of the body and develops resilience to stress. It is an effective treatment for mild anxiety & depression, and a great complementary practice for those suffering with trauma, PTSD, acute anxiety and depression, eating disorders, addiction and a range of other disorders.
- Yoga provides tools that you can take through life, helping you to maintain good mental health and a balanced outlook on life.
I have a particular interest in how yoga can heal the mind and body, and how it teaches us to relax and deal with the stresses of the modern age. Having trained with Shaura Hall of the Minded Institute, I am qualified to teach yoga for mental health. I have experience of working with people with a number of different disorders, both 1-2-1 and in small groups.

Yoga for Better Movement
Do you suffer from restricted movement, joint problems, stiff muscles or muscular tension, recurring injuries? Are you recovering from an injury?
Over time poor posture, injuries, and repeated actions like sitting at a computer all day cause the body to lose balance. Certain muscles tighten whilst others over-stretch and weaken. We can lose core stability and shoulder stability. If left unchecked this can lead to restricted range of movement & further injury, back problems and then a range of other issues such as lifestyle restrictions and loss of well-being.
Yoga exercises can help to restore and maintain flexibility and fluidity in the body, as well as developing strength and stability. Yoga can reduce the incidence of injuries related to over-use of muscles, poor posture, core weakness and restricted joint movement. In the case of more chronic conditions, yoga is an effective complementary therapy to be used alongside other forms of treatment such as physiotherapy. It can help you take control of your own healing and provides you with skills you can use throughout your life.
Using spinal flexibility exercises, standing postures, core work and deep stretches, yoga can restore range of movement within normal limits, develop strength, balance, and coordination, improve flexibility and suppleness, as well as giving you a greater understanding of your body, breathing and lifestyle.
I use straightforward Range of Motion and stability tests to assess your body so that you can understand what needs to change and why. A bespoke yoga sequence is then designed for your body and your needs.
Initial session £45
Subsequent one-to-one teaching sessions £30 for 60 minutes
